About The Compendium
Digital technologies are already showing promise for smallholder farmers producing 80% of the food consumed in Africa. There have been positive strides in ensuring smallholders become involved in digital agriculture. An estimated 33 million people accounting for about 13% of all sub-Saharan African smallholders and pastoralists are already registered for services such as weather updates and market linkages. Kenya leads in agricultural technologies and therefore the need to conduct an audit to establish the information gaps as well as develop a ‘one-stop-shop’ compiled in the format of a compendium for agricultural technologies, practices and services.
The adaption of climate related knowledge, technologies and practices to local conditions, promoting joint learning by farmers, researchers, rural advisor and widely disseminating CSA technologies innovations and management practices, is critical. The audit and developed compendium would therefore serve a guide for all the stakeholders for scaling CSA TIMPs in smallholder systems in Kenya and beyond.
